View Full Version : GTI 2500 for gold in Alaska

Good evening,

I have recently moved to Anchorage and have a Garret GTI 2500. I've done a lot of coin and relic hunting with it outside and was wondering what I would need to make a good unit for finding a little gold here in Alaska. I currently have 10" and 14" coils but was thinking that a smaller coil would be more useful here. Any suggestions?

A small coil would help but frankly if you are even half way serious about gold prospecting you need a different detector.

Just the answer I expected (and wanted) to hear. I'm never opposed to having another toy to play with but SWMBO probably isn't going to be too happy.

I have found nuggets from Georgia to California with my GTI 2500 mostly with the stock coil. It is more sensitive than a DD coil if the ground is not too hot. Use the all metal mode and manual ground balance and you will do fine. THE REAL TINY nuggets will be missed and that is for the goldbug type high freq machine. Half gram and up is what your looking for with the GTI 2500. Good luck!
