Do any of you know what serial # to look for that supposedly don't have problems? Some say 504 and some say 505. But I have read complaints on both. So is there a new number now?

Only a fraction of a percent of new detectors sold have any problem at all. The few that do, that is why there is a warranty. I have only had to send a detector I personally owned back to the factory maybe a half dozen times in 40 years, and I have owned a bunch of detectors. So for what it is worth I have never paid attention to what serial number is on a new unit I purchase. If I was buying an AT Pro tomorrow new I would not care as long as it was new.

Used, it could matter. Early AT Pro units did not have a cam lock shaft assembly and had a free upgrade program, now expired. If you got an early unit without the upgrade you would now have to pay to have it done. All you need to know is if the rod has twist locks. If not, it has not been upgraded.

Yeah it's a used one I found on the net.

Thank's Steve.
