The obvious answer that the bug guys don't consider because they are not geologists is that gold content may be higher in small size fractions than in large size fractions. I actually know of old mine dumps that were screened and the resulting fines were high enough to ship for processing, while the dump as a whole was not. Termites do not collect half inch sized chunks and other larger particles. Before the bugs are concluded to have some "power" of knowing what materials have slightly more gold than others, they need to run size fractions and see what they have.
