Alaska gold nuggets - rare natural gems from the 49th State. We are now offering select Alaskan gold nuggets and specimens for sale. What sets these nuggets apart from those commonly sold is that each nugget comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. These certificates are individually serial numbered and include details about the gold, including who found it, where it was found, and when. A photo of the nugget is included on the certificate and it's weight for identification purposes. Each certificate is signed by the actual finder of the gold nugget or specimen. Some generic gold of unspecified Alaskan origin may also be offered for sale here, but you can expect to pay a lower price for this type of gold. Oh, and what about prices? Well, you should not be looking here if you are simply looking to buy gold. Gold is common and can be bought by anyone at just over market price in the form of ingots or coins. In Anchorage a good place to shop for these items is Oxford Assaying & Refining or the Alaska Mint. Gold nuggets and specimens are not gold, but natural gemstones. The vast majority of gold nuggets ever found have been melted and lost forever, and gold nuggets today are far rarer than diamonds. The value of a gold nugget is strictly related to it's overall appearance and general rarity and has little to do with the actual market price of bullion gold. Alaska gold nuggets are particularly rare, as few mines are in operation that produce this kind of gold and make it available to the public. Many of the best finds are being made by individual prospectors and metal detector operators. An excellent article on gold nugget rarity and values can be found online at gold-nuggets.org You can also find lots of great information on buying gold nuggets, and exceptional specimens for sale at http://www.motherlodegold.com/

Finally, you can make you gold nugget or gold specimen purchase from Alaska Mining & Diving Supply knowing it is backed by over 35 years of customer satisfaction. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for a refund. See here for important details.

Are the prices too high? We have a "reverse auction" pricing policy for gold nuggets and specimens. Anything is only worth what it will sell for. We list items at what we believe is a fair price. But if they do not sell, the marketplace is telling us we have priced too high. We therefore periodically review this page (about every 2-3 months) and lower prices on nuggets and specimens that have not sold. So if you see something you are interested in but think it is too expensive, check back later. Everything here slowly goes down in price until it sells. So pick your price... and wait! 2.41 Troy Ounce (74.9 Gram) Gold Nugget SOLD!
Well, this is a real beauty and I hate to sell it. But gotta pay those bills! I (Steve Herschbach) found this nugget in August of 2004 at Ganes Creek, Alaska. I found the nugget with a White's MXT and 12" Jimmy Sierra Hotshot coil. The nugget is fairly solid gold with some enclosed quartz crystals, and would make either a great pocket piece or a very large pendant. This nugget comes with a signed certificate of origin detailing where, when, and how it was found. Click here for a sample certificate. Certificate Number 101989. The nugget is 2 inches long by 1-1/8 inch wide and is 3/8 inch thick .

2.83 Troy Ounce (88.1 Gram) Gold/Quartz Specimen  SOLD!
I'm sure you've never seen anything like this! This gold/quartz specimen was found at the recently re-opened Moore Creek property near McGrath Alaska by Bob Herschbach. Bob used a borrowed Minelab GP 3000 metal detector to make this find, the largest he has ever found. It was located in tailing piles from the old mining operations and so represents the type of gold lost by inefficient recovery systems. The original find was 5.13 oz in weight, and photos of its original condition can be seen here. It was a nice chunk, but most of the gold was obscured by the enclosing quartz rock. So I bought the specimen from Bob to experiment with it. I sawed and ground away the enclosing material until gold was visible on every side and from every angle. This reduced the total weight to 2.83 ounces but exposed much more gold. The piece might benefit from further work, but I stopped at the point at which I could see gold on every side. The quartz in the specimen is actually a clear crystalline variety and so it is translucent and you can actually see into the quartz to gold below the surface. All in all a very unique specimen unlike anything I've ever seen, and one with distinct possibilities for a creative artisan. This specimen comes with a signed certificate of origin detailing where, when, and how it was found. Click here for a sample certificate. Certificate Number 101990. The specimen is 1-5/8 inches long by 1-1/4 inch wide and approximately 3/4 inch thick.
